Inspired by the uber city – New York, the designer duo, Karan Johar and Varun Bahl, create a line that gives voice to the essence of the urban edge. The Magical Metropolis attempts to capture the very mood of a quintessential sophisticated city male who is aware yet languid.

Karan Johar and Varun Bahl have brought to life a line that shows the attitude, the architecture and the aroma of the Big Apple.

The city fuels ambitions. Travellers who come, stay. And then morph into denizens of style who take the aesthetic of a modern time into levels yet unreached. The spirit of the casual dresser who is always yet aware of what is relevant and what is good. And in a reversal the energy of a careful dresser who still keeps it alternative. These thoughts find expression in the Magical Metropolis. The ensemble tightly created yet at the same time unstructured in spirit. A balance so carefully honed that it appears seamless.

The mood, dark and smoky yet suddenly with a flash of pop, a strident colour to draw the eye. Tobacco tones, blacks deepening into blues, whites reflecting cold ice, grey that turn greyer and like the flash of a paparazzi camera a cobalt blue and even a pink. Hail the metro sexual. May the breed prosper in the lanes of the night.

Sketches of hand drawn scenes of New York created specially for the collection embellish silhouettes of jackets, shirts, low crotch trousers and shorts. And then a special line of jeans in denim, blue and beautiful.

The Magical Metropolis is built on foundations of linen, coated linen, cotton, voile, treated cotton, jersey and corduroy. The fabrics twisting and moving to meld into shapes exceptional and wonderful.
