Carolina Herrera to be Featured Designer at First-Ever Lincoln Center Fashion Week




Mercedes-Benz has named Carolina Herrera as its “Mercedes-Benz Presents” designer for Lincoln Center’s first-ever Fashion Week, which will show collections for Spring/Summer 2011.



The award recognizes designers for their dedication to quality materials, unique style and innovative design. Past winners include Monique Lhuillier, Badgley Mischka, Narciso Rodriguez and CHADO Ralph Ruci



“To be recognized in such an important year in Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week history, is, without question, a wonderful honor,” Herrera said in a press statement.



The Venezuelan-born designer is known for her elegant gowns (worn most notably by Renée Zellweger) and the trademark white-collared shirts she frequently wears with her smoothed-back blonde hair. She is responsible for producing a signature fashion collection and bridal collections, a lifestyle collection called CH Carolina Herrera, and 10 fragrances.



Prior to her runway show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Herrera will host two parties for Fashion’s Night Out Sept. 10: One at the opening of the CH Carolina Herrera store on Madison Avenue, with special-guest illustrator Robert Risko, and one at her Madison Avenue flagship store to celebrate its 10th anniversary.[details by Hannah Elliott at forbs]
